What to drink for heartburn relief? Heartburn is the return of gastric contents to the esophagus.
The stomach secretes the gastric acid involved in food digestion.
It occurs due to various causes, such as too grassy and spiced food, too much alcohol, sweets or nicotine, and stress.
In these cases, the amount of excreted stomach acid can be increased, which you can feel like a burning pain in the stomach area.
It is very common according to the World Health Organization’s research. Half of the world’s population suffers from heartburn at least once a week.
The most common symptoms are the burning sensation of the thorax that spreads towards the throat and the sour or bitter taste in the back of the throat.
It occurs as a result of a loose muscle that connects the esophagus and stomach. See which tea can you drink to feel better.
What to drink for acid reflux?
We will focus on teas that have the ability to stop the heartburn feeling. Teas are a home remedy for 1001 health problems.
This is why I write about teas so passionately. I am presenting you tea types that are more bitter than others and work on digestion and gastrointestinal tract.
These teas will help you to eliminate heartburn naturally.
Yarrow tea
Yarrow is a powerful herb that can help you with the acid and heartburn.
This is gastric tea, which promotes the function of the liver and gallbladder, and generally has a beneficial effect on metabolism in addition to its effects on stomach problems.
Health benefits
Yarrow is a diaphoretic, antipyretic, anti-fever agent, spasmolytic, diuretic, water secretion agent, sedative and hypnotic.
Because of the essential oils and other substances that it contains, common yarrow is often used in folk medicine, most often for the alleviation of inflammation, digestive problems, excessive sweating, and stopping of the bleeding.
Make a tea
Make a cup of yarrow tea. Flowers, leaves, and stems can be used to make this healing tea. You can use fresh or dried herbs.
Because yarrow tea has a bitter taste (as centaury plant), it can be sweetened with honey but it is better to drink it without any sweetener.
If you want to add vitamin C, you can also squeeze some drops of lemon juice into the drink.
Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea reduces acidity in the stomach and helps to eliminate heartburn. It will soothe the irritated stomach, as it will release the tension in the muscles.
In addition, this tea can help you with many digestive problems, including even irritable bowel symptoms.
Tea preparation
For the preparation of this tea, you will need to take a small amount of dry flowers and pour boiling water over them. Strain the tea and drink. Don’t drink more than 3 cups for 2-3 weeks.
Centaury tea
The medicinal herb isn’t only excellent against anemia, iron deficiency and stimulation of metabolism, but it is also useful for relieving gastric problems, bloating, cramping, liver problems, blood pressure control, respiratory treatment, jaundice treatment, compaction of high body temperature. Last but not least, it helps with diabetes.
Make a tea
You can make various homeopathic preparations for the liver treatment and bile problems from centaury herb.
It is also added to various liqueurs. If you have heartburn, prepare a tea from dried parts of the plant.
Simply pour 3 deciliters of boiling water on 2 teaspoons of dry plant, and wait 10 minutes before you drink the tea.
Wormwood tea
Wormwood tea is recommended for anyone who has problems with appetite deficiency or abdominal problems (such as lack of stomach acid and hypnoidal gastritis).
The tea from the wormwood is consumed half an hour before the meal in the absence of appetite, and after a meal when the digestive problems occur.
Tea recipe
Take one teaspoon of the plant (about 1.5 g) and pour it with a cup (150 mL) of boiling water.
Leave it covered for 15 minutes and then strain the tea. You can sweeten it with honey (the exception is in the treatment of digestive organs).
Take this tea up to 3x a day, but only for a week; then it is necessary to stop using it for a week. If problems persist, the consumption of wormwood tea can be continued.
Do you use sodium bicarbonate?
Sodium bicarbonate is very basic and neutralizes gastric acid. Place half a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of warm water and then add a few drops of lemon juice to it.
Be careful, as only a combination of both will work. Sodium bicarbonate in contact with stomach acid may produce gases, while lemons will decompose them at the same time.
Sodium bicarbonate was the main agent prescribed for the neutralization of gastric acid due to antacid effects for years.
As you already know excessive gastric acid is a common cause of heartburn, digestive disorders, and similar health conditions.
